Retired U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. William T. Luckett Jr., died Feb. 18, 2000, in Tacoma, Washington where he was recovering from a stroke suffered in December 1998.
He was 71.
A Masonic service was held at Mountain View Funeral Home, in Tacoma.
A military honor guard burial service followed at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Wash.
LTC Luckett was born Nov. 8, 1928, in Hutchinson, Kan.
He received a degree in history from LaVerne College, in California.
He continued to be an avid student of military history and world culture all of his life.
"Wild Bill," as he was known by friends, was Chief of Security Police at Elmendorf Air Force Base when he retired in 1977 after 27 years of loyal service to his country.
He then became Chief of Security for the Alaska State Court System.
He entered full retirement in 1983.
LTC Luckett was a member of the Scottish Rite of Free Masonry and participated in the Al Aska Shrine Temple.
He was president of Alaska Chapter 355, of the National Sojourners and was Commander of the Billy Mitchell Camp of the Heroes of 76.
He was a lifelong member of the National Rifle Association and was active in the fight to preserve the rights guaranteed by the Second Amendment.
He is survived by a brother, Gordon of Florida
