Obituary for Stephen "Steve" Paul Michael
RICHMOND, Ind. – Stephen Paul Michael, age 74, of Richmond, Indiana, died Thursday, August 8, 2024, at home.
Born August 13, 1949, in Richmond, Indiana, to Samuel Paul and Wyvonna Mildred Ruby Michael, he was a lifelong resident of this community.
Steve attended Starr Elementary and Test Junior High School and was a 1968 graduate of Richmond High School.
He received his BS degree from Ivy Tech in computer science.
Steve was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving in Vietnam.
Steve was a member of the 377 Security Police from 1970-1971 and served proudly with Charlie Flight, Charlie Sector, in Tan Son Nhut, Saigon.
He worked at Richmond Community Schools in special education.
Steve also worked as a lineman with GTE, and as cable operator with Belden Corp.
Steve is survived by his wife, Debbie Heavilon Michael.
Daughter, Renee Jordan (fiancé Blayze Freeman).
Grandchild, Ashley (Kyle) Lamb.
Great grandson, Kohan Lamb.
Sister Linda (Clair) Awong.
Sister Esther Mack.
Several nieces and nephews.
His veteran brothers.
Many valued friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Vincent Scott Michael.
Parents, Samuel P. and Wyvonna Michael.
Sister, Diana Charles.

Brother Roland Michael.
Brother, Phillip Michael.
Visitation for Stephen Paul Michael will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 15, 2024, with visitation from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. before the service, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with military honors provided by the Wayne County Honor Guard.
Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery’s Veteran’s Field of Honor.
