Photo of a Vietnam Air Force plane that landed in the Saigon River, after two dissident pilots tried bombing the Palace. Notice bent wings from the river landing. What a day of racket, on alert in foxholes, etc., until we found out what happened! I still remember the sounds of these two guys trying to bomb the Palace - they did quite a bit of damage, but the President was not there. We drove around Tan Son Nhut until we found this, after hearing one of them was on base after the plunked it out of the river. |
