Trip to Nha Trang. Again - seeking to set up a roving chapel schedule, we got on a C-123 headed for Nha Trang. My thinking has always been that we stopped in Danang on the way, but having just looked again at a map of South Vietnam, that doesn't seem right, since I remember it not being that far out of Tan Son Nhut. Maybe some of these are at Cam Ranh Bay - I don't know. I do remember coming in, diving over the other mountains and then boom, you were on the ground. I also remember that stupid me didn't have my seat belt on correctly (or at all,) and thankfully I was seated right against the bulkhead, because when they put on the brakes and reversed the engines, I had to prop my hands against that bulkhead to keep from having a bad time! Maybe some can tell us exactly where these were? Chaplain Kilpatrick and the C-123 we traveled in. |
