Tan Son Nhut perimeter westbound from the outside. This gate has been pointed out to me as being Gate-51, by a veteran who fought here during the so called 2nd TET Offensive in May or June 1968. (From the TSNA web master: The Mini-TET Offensive, took place on May 6, 1968. The fighting took place adjacent to the Main Gate and the extremely large French Cemetery. Both the Main Gate and the French Cemetery are located on the south side of the installation. The O-51 Gate was the center point of the TET Offensive, Jan 31, 1968. The O-51 Gate was located on the western end of the installation and west of both runways.) |
