Mr. Paul A. Thompson, 70, a former resident of Ohio passed away Tuesday morning, April 3rd, at the Davis Community. He was born in Hamilton, OH on May 24th, 1947 and spent the last 11 years of his life in Wilmington, NC. Following high school, Mr. Thompson served in the United States Air Force, with a tour in Vietnam, as a Sergeant - Combat Air Policeman. He received a Bronze service star, and a Republic of Vietnam Campaign Metal and a small arms expert marksmanship ribbon.
After his proud service in the USAF, Mr. Thompson was an entrepreneur in the beer & wine industry and owned a general store. He then worked for the city of Mansfield, OH in various departments. Mr. Thompson was known for his infectious laugh and sense of humor.
Surviving are his children, John Thompson of Mansfield, OH, Suzanne Dilworth and husband Shayne of Tijeras, NM, Casey Thompson and wife Jennifer of Wilmington, NC, Richard Madden of Dover, DE; sister, Elaine Kutsch and husband Larry of Milford, MI; nephews, Brian and David Kutsch; and grandchildren, Briana Madden and Paige Dilworth. Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Phyllis Thompson.
The family will receive friends at Andrews Mortuary located at 1617 Market Street. Wilmington, NC, on Friday, April 6th from 6-8 pm. A memorial service will be held at Andrews Market Street Chapel at 2:00 pm on Sunday, April 8, 2018, with the Rev. Rob Hamilton officiating. Following the service, interment with military honors will be held at Oakdale Cemetery, 520 North 15th Street, Wilmington.
